We do things a little differently.
We're not just about preserving the best of nature's bounty; we're preserving a way of life and a set of values that define us.
VKP is a small family business grown out of using age old techniques and family recipes to turn unwanted produce into something delicious.
Sue has always had an interest in preserving and creating in the kitchen. Growing up watching her grandmothers make everything from pickled onions to ginger beer, Sue gained an appreciation for giving unwanted fresh ingredients a new life.
In 2014, her family suggested she should share her products at a local market and from here, Vintage Kitchen Preserves was born.
Sue uses recipes and techniques passed down from her nannas, as well as many she has created personally, to craft the hundreds of seasonal lines stocked by Vintage Kitchen Preserves.
When our customers describe us, they consistently use a few words that capture the essence of VKP:
CREATIVE
JOYFUL AND PASSIONATE
ADVENTUROUS
LOCAL AND COMMUNITY DRIVEN
We cherish collaboration with our local community.
VKP partners with other businesses, neighbours, and food producers to create unique and delightful flavours. Our long-standing collaboration with Bendigo Foodshare is part of our commitment to community and reducing food waste.
We're committed to sustainable practices. Our ingredients are sourced with care, and we actively reduce waste. From local foraging to responsible packaging choices, we aim to leave a positive impact on the environment.
Our passion for foraging takes us to crazy places where we can gather berries (with snakes looking on), citrus fruits, figs, feijoas, mulberries, crab apples, medlars and many other fruits which grow on nature strips around Bendigo and beyond.
Not a week goes by when a customer hasn't brought us a bag of home grown produce to utilise or jars to recycle. Our customers bring us some amazingly weird fruits and vegetables, for which we are grateful. We enjoy putting our creativity to the test to ensure this produce becomes something amazing and not food waste.
We do as much as we can locally, from printing our own lables to shopping local for other business items.
In recognition of our commitment to sustainability. VKP was a finalist in 2018 for Bendigo Business Awards in Sustainability.
